PostSubject: Chapter 5 Discussion Questions   Chapter 5 Discussion Questions Icon_minitimeWed May 27, 2009 8:17 am

According to Napoleon what did the animals have to do?

Why were the animals on the farm terrified?

Do you think Snowball is really as smart as they make him sound in the book?

Why do you think Snowball and Napoleon are against each other?

How did Mollie feel in the beginning of Chapter 5?

Are the animals well educated?

How was Snowball a bad influence?

Why do only the pigs decide the rules? Is that right?

Some animals rejected the windmill idea! Why?

Do you think the windmill idea was the right way to solve the debate? Why or why not?

Napoleon is very well respected by all the animals; why do you think he gets so much respect?

Which animals began to not take responsibilty for the jobs they were given?

Does Mollie really care for the freedom or would she rather be taken care of by humans? Support your answer.

Do you think the animals should've all gathered and confront Mollie?

Were you shocked about Snowball's expulsion?

What do you think about Napoleon's maxim? Why?

Is snowball's plan too far away to reach?

Is Napoleon's forceful possession of power good or bad for the animals?

Which animals will benefit the most from Napoleon's leadership.

Do you think Mollie is a traitor? Who do you think she represents in the Russian Revolution?

Do you think that Napoleon and Snowball have taken the role of the humans on the farm?

Did Mollie need or want the humans to be happy?

How has the feud between Snowball and Napoleon elevated from the start of the utopia?

Who is doing better for themselves, us as humans, or them as animals?

Would the world be better if ruled by animals?

Which animal do you feel you relate most to?

Why was Mollie coming up with excuses?

Why do you think Napoleon opposes the windmill idea?

What role did the pigeons play?

The animals on the farm are in my opinion are very well educated because they know what to do to solve their problems. They listen to each other and they help to educate each other. I think that the animals are wise and that they know how to watch the people so they know what not to do.

I believe that Mollie needs the humans to be happy because she seems to not really try or put effort into the work around her or her own work. She was always happy with the farmer around because he gave her a job and he dressed her mane with pretty ribbons.

snowball and napoleon are against each other because they have different points of views. snowball uses a more proficient form to solve things and take leadership. napoleon uses an aggressive form of dictatorship. these two political figures are definitely against each other because of their lust for absolute power or dictatorship.

mollie doesn't put effort in what she does. she makes it seem like she doesn't care. she's always late for her shift and makes excuses. mollie looks like she is not happy with her life right now and what she's doing with it.

the animals had tried to escape from the farmer because of the fact that the farmer was doing bad things to the animals such as torturing them by starving them and beating them as well i think the animals are educated but they use their own knowledge and experience to determine the things going on and the solution to any problems too i think the pigs in this book portray that they are the smartest because they seem to be the smartest, oldest, and wisest among the animals

the animals in the farm are very well educated in my opinion. they all have roles in the farm. in case of a crisis they don't panic, they construct a plan to help solve the issue. the animals all know what to do. this can be compared to the characters in Lord of the Flies. the tribe all had something to do in order to maintain peace and terminate all their issues.

on the farm the pigs decide the rules because they are the wisest of the animals. they know the plan of action left to them by Major. the pigs know how animals are treated throughout the country; so they try to explain it to the other animals.

I think that Napoleon gains so much respect because everyone is scared that he would do something to them. Probably the animals fear that Napoleon will do something drastic to them like take away all of their advantages. Or maybe he could force the animals to do something bad

Yes I do thing that the animals are well educated. They all have a way of thinking that makes them educated. When an animal does something that animal thinks about the others first. Most of them tret each other like family.

the reason for why the animals escaped is because of their old master, Mr. Jones. he was a cruel and unforgiving master. Mr. Jones was a drunk who starved the animals. finally they all rebelled against him. the animals finally had enough of him. they all came after him and the "crew" and led them off the farm and closed the gate. Now the were free and finally had control. Now the only obstacle now was who was in charge.

1. Napoleon believes that the animals should worry about the matters at hand, not in the future.

2. The animals are scared because Napoleon just seized all the power for himself.

3. I think snowball is really as smart as he seems, that is the reason why Napoleon chased him away, he felt threatened.

4. I think that Snowball and Napoleon are against each other because they represent conflicting political views.

5. Mollie felt that the humans were her friends because they gave her ribbons and sugar cubes.

6. Most of the animals aren’t well educated but the pigs are growing smarter every day because the have access to books.

7. Snowball was never a bad influence but Napoleon led everyone to believe that because he needed something or someone to blame for all the misfortune that would happen.

8. Only the pigs make the rules because they are the smartest. I don’t believe this is right but it is working up until now.

9. Some animals are against the windmill because they agree with napoleon. They think that they should focus in the present and not the future.

10. I don’t believe that the windmill was the right choice at the time because they needed to increase their supplies. They didn’t have the resources, skill or knowledge on how to construct a working dynamo let alone hooking it up to a windmill.

the pigs make the rules because they are the ones with the most experience. they know how the animals have been treated. they have seen and heard what has happened to them. Old Major, the horse is the wisest of them all. he is almost considered as the one the animals turn to for advice and problems.

napoleon is, in my opinion, respected so much by all of the animals on the farm because he does whatever to get the job done and the animals look to him for advice and help.

No I dont think that the world should be ruled by animals because there would be a decision. You see hoe they cant even decide who gets to control the farm, The animals will form a war everytime because they dont know how to resolve things thinking outside the box.

Napoleon is portrayed as a lustful "conquistador" in my opinion. the animals fear him but at the same time like him because he focuses on what is on hand and does what he has to do to either solve the problem or to provide a logical reason.

The pigs only decide the rules because they think that they know what is best. The animals somewhat trust the pigs with the rules. Plus they know what going on
