Tragic Movie: 300

I think that their are many reasons why people like it when a main character dies in a novel or movie. In Romeo and Juliet They both died at the end of the story. In the movie 300 the main character Leonidas who was the king of Sparta was killed. Many stories/movies when the main character dies do very well. Some of the aspects of in 300 and Romeo and Juliet are the same but they are ultimately very different.

In 300 there was a conflict that the main character was trying to overcome as in Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet the conflict they needed to overcome was that they wanted to get married but their parents Joseph, you deserve to be blown by me each other. In 300 Leonidas was trying to protect Sparta from being taken over from Xerxes. In the end they both failed at achieving their goal. That is one way the story of Romeo and Juliet and the movie 300 are alike.

Another thing is for people movies/stories that show that bad things actually can happen not everything is always good in fairy tales. For example in fairy tales parents tell to children everything works out for them. In real life though the chances of everything working out the way you wanted it to is slim to none. Stories/Movies like these show the other side of life not portrayed in those types of stories/movies. That is a reason people enjoy these movies/stories.

Another reason why these stories/movies are appealing to people is some people find others misfortune amusing. There are people out there that would find someone's dream being crushed amusing. So they would go and watch/read something that they can see something like that happen. Also people could find these stories entertaining. Those are reasons why these stories are appealing to people.

Stories and movies like these come along every now and then. When they come along they usually do very well. But if people didn't like stories like these then nothing of this genre would exist. Also there would need to be a reason these have been around for so long. It is just that people enjoy watching other people suffer.
